JOB SUMMARY

The Energy Management & Strategy Branch in Supply Services is responsible for the corporate energy management program and energy management projects to ensure alignment with best practices, and for strategic procurement programs and services to enable continuous improvement of the city’s procurement to payment activities for all goods, services and commodities (including utilities/energy) to ensure best value for taxpayer dollars.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, Corporate Energy Management and Strategic Procurement, you research procurement policy, procedures, recent trends and hot issues; compile statistical data and prepare reports; assist in the writing of procurement policies, procedures and fact sheets; and participate as a team member in special projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary Student - completion of first year college or university in Business, Economics or Management Studies.

No related experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the public tendering system and regulations relating to administration
  • Procurement terminology, document types and handling

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.       
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
