JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of the Transit Customer Systems and Planning Service is to provide customer service, service planning and technology and control systems support for OC Transpo, geared to providing excellence in customer service delivery to 100 million transit customers per year by means of conventional bus, para transit and rail operations. Transit Service Planning is responsible for service and operations planning for bus, rail, and Para Transpo services (including route planning, bus stop planning, service frequency, scheduling, and bus type assignment), capital and operating budgeting for the department, transit fare policy, performance reporting, development of policies and long-range plans, establishment of service standards and design standards, delivery of the City’s transit priority program, and continuous improvement for departmental operations.

Under the direction of a Team Lead or other supervisor, you are responsible for surveying various bus stop locations across the City to provide bus stop details, including such items as type of surface at the stop, the dimensions of the bus pad or loading area, the type of exposure, screening, characteristics of materials that belong to that stop, such as the shelter, the type of shelter, whether the shelter contains cases, seats, the number of the shelter, the dimensions of the shelter, whether there is a bench available at the stop or a newspaper stand, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate entering college/university in the fall

Less than 4 months of related experience is required

Previous work with a digital camera and a GPS unit is desirable

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Able to work independently, and should be self-motivated.
  • Good organizational skills would be an asset.

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
