JOB SUMMARY
The Geospatial Analytics, Technology and Solutions unit is responsible for Geographic Information System (GIS) & Data Management programs and services, including Geographic Information System (GIS), Zoning Information System (ZIS) activities, Water and Wastewater Distribution Network, Geospatial Information Centre, Central Registry (Composite Utilities) and Data Management, Cartography, Web GIS, Visualization and Analytics services.
You are responsible for creating CADD infrastructure data for the corporate utility composite base map and creating ‘to scale’ utility plans for display corporately on the Information Centre Application. This includes researching, reading and interpreting engineering plans from multiple datasets to determine the most current infrastructure information; referencing the researched raster and vector digital mapping data from the various data repositories and engineering plans to create the most current utility composite plan; and conducting engineering field checks and performing Quality Control checking of existing and new infrastructure mapping. You may also respond to information requests using various applications in a Windows operating environment, and perform other special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary Student - completion of second year College or university in Engineering, Civil Technical, Geography or GIS Program
Minimum of 1 year but less than 2 years of related experience is required
Demonstrated experience in a MicroStation or AutoCAD environment.
KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering plans
- Knowledge of project organizational techniques
- Knowledge of GIS systems will be considered an asset.
- Civil Engineering plan and topographic map reading techniques
- Intermediate CAD, PC Windows software, Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering plans
- Knowledge of project organizational techniques
- Knowledge of GIS systems

- Must be extremely organized and be attentive to details.
