JOB SUMMARY
The Climate Change and Resiliency Service is responsible for a directed and coordinated approach to implementing the Climate Change Master Plan, Energy Evolution Strategy, the Climate Resiliency Strategy, the Urban Forest Management Plan, and associated priorities, programs, projects, and policies. It will act as a thought leader on climate change issues, responses, emerging technologies, and pilot projects, in partnership with other entities.
The Pilots, Governance, and Reporting team is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of initiatives that advance the City’s climate and sustainability goals. The team is responsible for developing and managing governance frameworks, reporting structures and performance monitoring and reporting to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Climate Change and Resiliency Service Area. Key responsibilities also include overseeing and supporting pilot programs that test innovative solutions aligned with the Service Area’s mandate, developing, fostering internal and external strategic partnerships for collaborative service delivery, managing outreach and communications and the legislative strategy for the Service Area.
You are responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day delivery and operations of Pilots, Governance & Reporting programs and services.
You are also responsible for managing the unit’s human (including contracted services) and financial resources, and stakeholder and partner relationships.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a 4 year university degree in environmental science/engineering, project management, social science, science, business administration or other related field
Minimum of 6 years of related experience in project management, partnership development, data analysis/reporting and/or community engagement, including a minimum of 3 years in the management of human and financial resources

- Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
