JOB SUMMARY
Parking Enforcement & Logistics is responsible for the Parking Enforcement Program (On-Street, Off-Street, Private Parking), Business Licensing operations, Smoke-free Ontario regulations, and overseeing special events branch-wide.
You enforce the provision of the City of Ottawa Traffic and Parking by-law, and perform related administrative duties under the direction of a Supervisor, By-law Enforcement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 12
Minimum of 2 months of experience preferably in the enforcement of statutory offences or related field
Experience in the communications and public relations fields is an asset
KNOWLEDGE
- General knowledge of the City of Ottawa Traffic and Parking By-law
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and cope with people in difficult situations
- Ability to communicate effectively orally to the general public and all work related contacts
- Acts as a representative of the City of Ottawa and promotes good public relations
- Demonstrated customer service attitude
- Must be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays
- Ability to meet the physical demands as assessed (physical demands checklist is available on request) and to patrol regardless of weather conditions
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements. English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
