JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of the Rail Construction Program is to transform, develop, grow and sustain Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit Systems as a component of the City of Ottawa’s overall transportation and mobility strategy.
You are responsible for: interpreting, administering and enforcing contractual agreements associated with the Rail Construction Program; providing a primary point of contact and subject matter expertise on contractual compliance for Rail Construction Program projects, such as Trillium and Confederation Line LRT Extension; using effective communication and stakeholder management skills to maintain positive relationships with Management, Project Leads and external contractors; resolving issues with external contractors by applying dispute resolution techniques to prevent project delays; and recommending changes to policies and procedures to facilitate the implementation of contractual agreements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Business, Project Management, Law or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience, such as contract administration or contract lead for a major construction project.
KNOWLEDGE
- All aspects of Project Management
- Project risk analysis and risk transfer methodologies (with experience in transaction/contractual development preferred)
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction management
- Advanced understanding and practical application of contract management
- Relevant City of Ottawa legislation/bylaws.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of typical systems used in Rail System, such as SCADA, CCTV, Centralised Transmission System (CTS), PA/PIDS.
