JOB SUMMARY
You are responsible for monitoring, controlling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical/electrical systems for the City’s building systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 2 year college diploma in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with CFC Certification
Minimum of 5 years of related maintenance and operational experience on building environmental systems and services

KNOWLEDGE
- First Aid
- Computers (PC based)
- Modern building, mechanical and electrical systems
- Plumbing, HVAC systems
- Electronic and pneumatic controls
- Air handling systems
- Welding, brazing and soldering
- Preventative maintenance procedures
- Safety procedures
- Municipal and Provincial Health & Safety and Fire Regulations
- D.D.C. Systems (Honeywell, Johnstons, Andover, Omeran and Landis & Gyr)
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems
- Read blueprints (Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural)
- Work effectively with others
- Write simple memoranda and maintain records on log sheets
- Write legibly
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to conduct repairs from elevated platforms
- Alertness dependability, initiative
- Aptitude for mechanics & D.D.C. controls
- Good physical condition
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
