JOB SUMMARY

Resident Care is responsible for the planning, coordinated development, management and implementation of long term care home nursing and personal care activities, programs, services and initiatives to the residents of a municipal long term care facility. 

You are responsible for supporting total resident care, according to a Resident Care Plan, ensuring residents' optimal functioning and well being in a supportive, therapeutic environment, with an emphasis on resident safety and engagement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of Grade 12 and a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program* which meets the standards established in the Long Term Care Act.  

*Clinical Practicum hours within the Personal Support Worker program consist of a minimum of one hundred and forty (140) hours, as practical experience, preferably with clinic experience in a geriatric or long term care setting. 

No other related work experience is required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.       
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.  
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a Declaration of Offences and Misconduct form.
