JOB SUMMARY


You are responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance management systems, business processes, and technology solutions to enable effective asset management, operational performance, and service delivery. The role serves as a key liaison between business units, maintenance operations, and corporate IT partners to ensure that computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and associated applications are optimized, integrated, and aligned with departmental requirements and objectives. 

 

You are also responsible for:

•Administering and optimizing the functionality, performance and integrity of the department’s CMMS and associated document management systems, including asset, inventory, and maintenance information

•Analyzing, documenting, and improving business processes and system requirements to support maintenance management programs, operational needs, and asset management strategies

•Developing functional requirements and collaborating with internal and external IT partners and vendors to implement system enhancements, integrations, and technical solutions

•Supporting the full lifecycle of system and process improvements, including requirements development, testing, implementation, and post implementation support

•Maintaining databases, data structures, and reporting tools, and contributing to performance measurement, data analysis and decision making processes

•Providing technical advice, troubleshooting, user support, and training to operational and technical staff

•Contributing to projects, working groups and continuous improvement initiatives related to technology, business transformation, and service delivery outcomes 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of 3 year post-secondary education in an engineering or business administration/systems discipline with strong computer skills, or computer science

Minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting plant maintenance activities, business process analysis, and computerized maintenance management systems OR providing business process and technical support for a computerized maintenance management system

Experience in a municipal or industrial environment is desirable

KNOWLEDGE

  • Maintenance management principles 
  • Good understanding of predictive and preventive management procedures, repair work and maintenance performance metrics
  • Techniques, practices and tools used in the review, analysis, design and improvement of business processes 
  • Material management, asset management and work management workflows and relationships
  • Quality assurance procedures
  • Understanding of departmental operations, programs and services, and corresponding legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks 
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using information systems applications to support business function (preferably with SAP and/or Maximo and/or SharePoint and O365 suite, and/or DataSplice and/or Power BI)
  • Advanced computer application/technological skills and aptitude
  • Research, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders including managers, engineering and other staff, and consultants
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation including process, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drawings
  • Ability to bridge knowledge/understanding gaps between IT specialists and departmental management/end users
  • Skills in using a computer and general office/business software relating to the job (including spreadsheet, reporting, word processing, database, and data search/retrieval applications and tools)
