JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of City Wide Programs, Aquatics & Specialized Services is to provide strategic vision and innovative leadership in managing customer centric sports, physical activity, aquatics and recreation venues, programs and services for all ages, including the management of facilities and/or land, and for the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and services. This Service provides city wide access to adapted, therapeutic and integrated recreation programs, giving children, youth and adults with special needs the opportunity to participate in community recreation.

Under the guidance of a Program Coordinator, you are responsible for the monitoring and supervision of the Beach Volleyball Program participants to ensure participants have a safe and enjoyable program experience. Duties include the set-up and takedown of equipment, assisting with program evaluations, equipment rentals and other administrative tasks. You may also assist senior staff with the delivery of programs/activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate entering college/university in the fall

Minimum of 4 months but less than 8 months of related experience is required

Knowledge and ability to coach and supervise beach volleyball 

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
Appropriate coaching certification in a relevant specialty recreation/sports program

KNOWLEDGE

  • AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) Legislated training required by 2010
  • City of Ottawa Core Training
  • Applicable Ottawa Parks & Recreation policies and procedures.
  • City of Ottawa cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers. Work boots required Vehicle required

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.       
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.; The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
