JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Information Technology Services is to created business value by providing innovative and strategic technology solutions for the business operations of the City of Ottawa.
You develop and deliver technology solutions and provide ITS technical support and subject matter expertise to assigned client groups across the City in Collaboration technologies.
 
Working as part of a team, you will:
•    Provide virtual and hybrid conferencing support using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
•    Provide information and recommendations to clients on boardroom options for both Audio / Video and hybrid work
•    Provide technical support for boardroom Audio / Video equipment, MS Teams, MS Teams Room Systems, Cisco Video Conferencing, and other collaboration tools
•    Support the design and installation of collaboration solutions
•    Work with colleagues, clients, and contractors to implement projects
•    Write solution and technical requirements documentation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 3 year university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

Minimum of 3 years of related experience with specific experience in the relevant technical competency area including software/application development and integration

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of technical competency area and applicable software/related tools 
  • Understanding of and experience with Agile methodologies
  • Experience utilizing DevOps methodologies and associated tools
  • Experience building QA test strategies and using automated tools/techniques
  • Understanding of business relationship management 
  • IT Service Management principles and standards
  • IT security principles and standards
  • General knowledge of City programs/services, operations and business processes
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Research and data analysis
  • Business and technical requirement gathering, analysis and verification
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write and verbally present information
  • Technical writing skills to create/maintain solution documentation for internal and external users, with attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, completeness, usability and style
  • Collaborate and work effectively with client groups and end users
  • Work both independently and as member of a project team
  • Operate effectively in a changing work environment with competing priorities and deadlines
