JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Shared Services (FSS) Branch is responsible and accountable for the delivery of financial transaction processing for all City departments, Boards, Commissions and Agencies. The FSS works with business leaders and managers to support the administration of financial transactions and ensuring that the financial support requirements and financial processing are delivered in a timely and meaningful manner. The Branch provides proactive, strategic and operational support and advice to managers and staff in the following areas; financial controls, compliance, project management, financial systems use and training, payment administration, procurement and payment requisitioning, and client service. Further, the FSS implements and ensures adherence to sound financial controls across the Corporation.
You are responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day delivery and operations of Finance Shared Services (FSS) Branch’s programs and services.
Programs, services, projects and activities include:
- supporting the development of strategic business partnerships and delivering integrated and operational financial shared services support to client management and staff within the Corporation;
- financial oversight and controls in support of financial compliance, as well as, financial advice and project management support;
- provides financial management information, guidance, reporting and the delivery of finance shared services to support across the Corporation;
- monitoring resources, and program and service delivery procedures so that customer/client interests are well represented through financial processes, and through direct contact with financial services operational functions; and
- works with Service Management teams to provide reports, inputs into policy and best practice reviews, improved client services and accounting procedures/systems; maintains liaisons and exchanging information with internal staff and provides ongoing audit support.
You are also responsible for managing the unit’s human (including contracted services) and financial resources, and stakeholder and partner relationships.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a 4 year university degree in finance, business administration or other related field
5 years of related experience in financial systems management, business process re-engineering or related activities, including a minimum of 4 years in the management of human and financial resources
Professional accounting designation is desired (C.A., C.G.A., C.M.A.).

- Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
