JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of Legal Services is to provide a comprehensive and complex range of legal services to elected officials, all City of Ottawa departments, and various boards and commissions (i.e. Ottawa Police Services Board, Ottawa Community Land Development Corporation and the Ottawa Public Library), in the areas of civil litigation, labour and employment law, prosecutions, and corporate, municipal, planning, development, environmental, and commercial law.
You are responsible for providing business operations expertise to Legal Service’s regarding the City’s corporate applications and all other Legal business applications; analyzing and defining integrated business processes; configuring the relevant application to support those processes; and maintaining the functionality of the application.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, or related field, with concentration in business/operational process analysis, accounting, or information systems.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in management systems, business analysis and the use of business information systems, preferably within a municipal environment or a large public organization.

- Possess general knowledge of the Corporation, departmental business requirements, policies and organizational structure, and legislative requirements of the work environment
- Possess knowledge and understanding of business processes and work management systems within the department
- Business analysis practices, techniques, and report writing
- Business process modelling methodologies and techniques
- Principles, methodologies, and techniques of Project Management
- Client-centred approach to service delivery
- Organizational change concepts and methodologies
- Business practices in maintenance management, payroll, finance and accounting
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

- Possess excellent consultative, collaboration, facilitation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to broker/negotiate solutions to complex strategic work management issues, persuade/influence others and bring conflicting points of view to consensus
- Possess strong evaluation, analytical and problem solving skills and to ability to make decisions
- Possess strong assertive verbal and written communication, presentation and report writing skills

- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing required.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
