JOB SUMMARY

Surveys and Mapping provides corporate legal survey and mapping services in support of the City’s planning, development and infrastructure operations and to enable all City-led construction projects. 

You are responsible for conducting and coordinating assigned projects for the production of legal and mapping surveys in accordance with the relevant Provincial Statutes, Regulations and Guidelines. 

You are also responsible for procuring legal surveys externally as required, and providing expert legal survey advice to City staff and the general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year degree in geomatics engineering, geomatics science or other related field

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a licenced Ontario Land Surveyor

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Licensed Ontario Land Surveyor (cadastral surveying) with Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS)

KNOWLEDGE

  • Concepts, theories, principles, methods, techniques and practices of cadastral surveying, geodesy, hydrography and photogrammetry
  • Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Ontario Land Surveyors
  • Provincial and Federal Statutes and Regulations pertaining to Legal surveys and plans
  • Common Law associated with Real Property 
  • POLARIS parcel mapping
  • Procedures and methods for legal engineering and control surveys
  • Intergraph MicroStation
  • Computerized survey systems and electronic instruments
  • CAD methods and procedures
  • Global Positioning Systems methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • TOPOS and Vision by Geoplus software packages.
