JOB SUMMARY

The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance branch provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City. The Transit Maintenance Area 2 unit manages the Transit Services Purchasing Operations & Warranty Programs, including materials management and warranty administration, inventory management, tool purchase/management, procuring and expediting goods & services, and maximizing the proceeds of disposition of surplus and obsolete materials.

You support Transit Fleet & Facilities Maintenance by coordinating information exchange and implementation of programs/operational processes within the branch and communicating with other Fleet Services/Support Divisions such as technical services, and external suppliers (shareholders & partners).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of a 2 year community college diploma in business administration or related field, or completion of Truck and Coach Technician (310T) and/or Automotive Service Technician (310S) apprenticeship program of 6720/7220 hours.

Minimum of 4 years of experience within Transit Fleet Maintenance with exposure to the full range of programs and activities in a transit fleet maintenance operation. 

Experience must include extensive use of computers using MS Office Suite in a Windows environment and the Fleet Management Information system (FMIS), developing technical instructions and informational documents, and implementing legislative requirements specific to Transit Bus technology and vehicle systems.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T or Automotive Service Technician 310S

KNOWLEDGE

  • Fleet business relationships including the technologies and procedures governing Fleet maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of Transit Fleet Maintenance operational processes and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proven computer literacy in an MS Office Suite in a Windows environment, including use of Ozone and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of the processes used in the Technical Services division for vehicle procurement and supplier/manufacturer liaison.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
