JOB SUMMARY
Financial Systems and Reporting is responsible for optimizing the use of SAP across the corporation for the management, reporting and delivery of City finances; and ensuring the financial aspects of all information systems are leveraged to support the City’s financial control framework.
You are responsible for conducting ongoing analysis of the organization’s Financial Management Information System business requirements, recommending and implementing new/enhanced functionalities and facilitating the change management process. You maintain the functionality of the FMIS in collaboration with Information Technology staff in the on-going configuration of the system; and serve as a functional source of expertise providing training, guidance and clarification to Financial Services employees on the use of the relevant information systems within finance, and the resolution of problems including the impact of upgrades and new functionality.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Public or Business Administration with concentration in business/financial analysis, computer science or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis/financial administration/information systems administration ,support or coordination in an SAP environment
Experience in municipal government combined with experience in SAP application, microcomputers and software is an asset
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
KNOWLEDGE
- Corporate computer systems/applications such as SAP and IBM Business Intelligence Tools
- Change management principles and techniques
- Financial and related City of Ottawa practices
- Information systems development processes and strategies
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Business analysis practices, techniques and report writing
- Project management techniques
- General ledger system and financial sub-system interfaces, month end reconciliation practices, audits, checks
- Client/server computer technology
- Application and/or network security administration
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, policies and procedures, and all other legislation, policies and procedures relevant to work.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
