How to apply

How do I apply for jobs at the Ottawa Police Service?
All applicants must create an online profile and submit their applications electronically. We will not accept applications/resumes via email.

What is an online profile?
A profile is an online resume that is used to search and apply for Ottawa Police Service career opportunities. Your profile includes your:

  • Personal data
  • Education and training
  • Work and volunteer experience
  • Qualifications, including licenses, certifications, and language capabilities
  • Additional information

Once you have created your profile, you can update it at any time.

Why should I build a profile?
Completing an online profile allows you to:

  • Store core data securely
  • Save time when applying to multiple positions
  • Check the status of your application
  • Sign up for career alerts to receive e-mail notifications of new employment opportunities.

Is my information safe? Who can access it?
Yes, your information is safe. Only our Human Resources personnel can view information relevant to the job applications you submit using your profile. You may also refer to the Ottawa Police Privacy statement.

What is a Career Alert?
A career alert is an e-mail notification of new job postings. You can modify your job search filters, choose the frequency of the alerts and unsubscribe at any time. There is no limit to the number of career alerts you can create.

How can you tell that I am an Ottawa Police Service employee when I apply?
If you logged in using your internal profile, your cadre and position details will be visible to the recruiters and hiring managers identifying you as an Ottawa Police Service employee. If you logged in using an external profile, your employee number will not be tied to your profile.

Can I apply for a position past the application deadline?
The Ottawa Police Service does not accept late applications. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date indicated on the job poster. Those received after the closing date will not be considered.

If I have a disability, will the Ottawa Police Service accommodate my needs?
Accommodations will be provided in all parts of the hiring process as required. Accessible formats and communication support are available upon request. Applicants need to make their needs known in advance.
